Since human living environment is very complicated, it is necessary to improve the robot's functions so that he can perform tasks in this environment. Therefore, the robot needs to have more sensors and multi degree-of-freedom mechanism. Basically, the main point of this approach is to develop a robot that can handle different types of tasks by itself. Thus, implementing all necessary functions for the robot is our major goal. However, there are many difficulties in implementation. With the support of many simple "robot's elements" in the surrounding environment, the robot will be able to handle different types of tasks and sophisticated functions are not necessarily implemented for him. Surrounding "robot's elements" are widely supposed to be informational support (sensor data), physical support (actuation), etc. In reality, these elements can be supposed to be component parts of the robot. In our research, we propose environmental robot system in which the modules providing RT functions are distributed, we called the system ubiquitous robot. The robot supports human and other robots working in that environment. And we develop elemental technologies for realizing the ubiquitous robot.
